Patio Pup Group Training Session

Looking to refine your dog’s patio etiquette? Join us at Lombard House on Tuesday, November 3rd (after you vote!) for an engaging group training session designed to build real-world patio skills.

This workshop is for handlers and dogs who want hands-on support mastering calm, attentive behavior in a pub setting. To participate safely, your dog must be able to focus on you around other dogs and people. If your pup is not yet comfortable in close proximity to environmental triggers, please attend without your dog or reach out to Hounding Around to schedule individual training sessions first. If you are unsure whether your dog is ready for this environment, please contact Avery from Hounding Around beforehand. We are happy to answer any questions!

To ensure everyone’s safety, comfort, and success, all dogs must remain on a standard leash at all times. On-leash greetings between dogs are strictly prohibited.

What to Bring

• A designated mat, towel, or blanket for your dog.

• High-value training treats.

• A non-retractable leash (maximum 6 feet).

• A well-fitted collar or harness.

• Water & water bowl

What to Expect

• Check in with Kristin at the entrance upon arrival. You will be directed to the patio, where Avery will guide you to your assigned seating area. 

• Seating is strategically arranged to maintain safe distance and maximize focus for all working teams.

• Avery will present key patio management techniques, direct guided exercises, and provide real-time coaching throughout the evening.

Our goal is to foster a supportive, judgment-free environment where handler-dog communication thrives. To protect this environment, mutual respect for personal space is required. Hounding Around and Lombard House reserve the right to ask any participant to leave if safety or group focus is compromised. Please contact Avery from Hounding Around ahead of the event if you are unsure if your dog is ready for this event.

How to Prepare

• Fulfill your dog’s physical exercise and mental enrichment needs earlier in the day.

• Give your dog a bathroom break before class begins promptly at 5:30 PM.

• Practice "Down-Stay" on a portable mat or towel at home prior to the event.

Event Rules

• Advocate for your dog: Clearly request space from others whenever needed.

• No interactions between dogs from different households.

• Keep dogs on a short, static leash within your designated working zone at all times.

• Respect the space and working boundaries of all participating teams.

• Respect Lombard House property and clean up thoroughly after your team.

Registration is $20 for the first dog and $5 for each additional dog from the same household. Each participating dog must have a dedicated human handler.

If you've never been to Lombard House, this is what the back patio looks like. We will strategically seat our guests to prioritize safety and focus. Please consider your dog's ability to work with other people and dogs in this space.
